Lex Machina CEO Josh Becker Recognized as Litigation Trailblazer and Innovator by Two Leading Legal Publications
MENLO PARK, CA, December 4, 2014 – Josh Becker, CEO of Legal Analytics® creator Lex Machina, has been named one of the 25 leading innovators in California law by The Recorder and selected by the National Law Journal as one of the country’s Top 50 Litigation Trailblazers & Pioneers for 2014. The honors come in recognition of Becker’s work enabling the application of analytics in the business and practice of law.
The Recorder’s inaugural Innovator Awards recognizes California attorneys who have forged a new path in improving the delivery of legal services, with winners selected by the publication’s editorial staff. Becker, who received the award alongside lawyers working at firms, in-house legal departments, startups, nonprofits, and in academia, will be honored at a reception in San Francisco to coincide with the publication of a special December issue of The Recorder featuring award recipients. The Recorder praised his work “leading the way in leveraging data in litigation” in naming him to the list.
A further testament to Becker’s knowledge and leadership in the legal field is his inclusion by National Law Journal in its Litigation Trailblazers & Pioneers awards, also in its inaugural year. A profile of Becker exploring his success in “raising the bar” in the area of intellectual property litigation twill appear in The National Law Journal’s December issue.

Becker, who earned his J.D./MBA from Stanford University, leads strategy and operations at Lex Machina. He joined the company in 2012 and took it from a public interest project at Stanford to a venture backed company providing a trusted platform for the world’s top legal teams, including in-house counsel for Yahoo, Nike, eBay and Google, as well as more than 1/3 of AMLaw 100 firms.
Becker’s experience in intellectual property law and technology is extensive – prior to Lex Machina he was part of the founding team at Dice.com, ran corporate development at Agile Software, and worked as a venture capitalist at Redpoint Ventures.
